REST, RELAX AND ROCK
Now Hard Rock is more than a cafe. It's an entire vacation -
the Hard Rock Beach Club - which will throw open its doors in early 1998. The unique Hard
Rock Beach Club is the beginning of a new generation of themed hotels bringing hotel
accommodation to the famous fun and good times of the Hard Rock Cafe. So, no longer do you
have to leave the drinking, dancing and music behind at the end of the night. Now you can
spend your entire holiday immersed in the glorious rock and roll culture at the Hard Rock
Beach Club. Each wing of the 417-roomed Hard Rock Beach Club has a different theme: Rock
and Roll, Psychedelic, Blues, Reggae and Alternative. If sleeping with Jimi Hendrix is
your thing, choose Psychedelic. If you'd prefer to wake up with Bon Jovi, then it's Rock
and Roll for you. Tel. 62-361-761 869 Fax. 761 868
'ARISTOCAT', THE CREAM OF
SAILING OPTIONS
Luxury tour operator Bali Hai Cruises has recently taken
delivery of a new catamaran to operate exclusive trips to Bali's Nusa Lembongan.
'Aristocat', a 20-meter, twin-hulled aluminium sailing catamaran, commenced operations in
late October and will be used to carry small groups from its mooring at Benoa Harbour to
Bali Hai Cruise's luxury beach club on the nearby island. Capable of transporting up to 50
people in comfort, 'Aristocat' carries a crew of six and is equipped with full galley
facilities for on-board dining. In addition to the voyage to Lembongan Island, Bali Hai
Cruises will also make the yacht available for charter and special events such as weddings
or private luncheons. Aristocat leaves Benoa Harbour three times daily. Choose from one of
two day-time cruises or the evening cruise. Tel. 62-361-720 331 Fax. 720 334

NOVOTEL OPENS NEW FRONTIERS
Guests visiting the Novotel in Lombok after its December
opening will wonder what to expect as they pass the salty dry villages along the route to
the new resort. Kuta Beach in Lombok bears no resemblance at all to its namesake in Bali,
but has long been a popular spot for intrepid surfers. It doesn't look like the rest of
Lombok either. Once there, expect to find an elegant, quirky resort opening out to a wide,
sandy beach. Deluxe rooms and mini villas arranged in clusters dot the terracotta resort
that is full of eye-catching details like giant carved pineapples and strange sea
creatures. Imaginative pools and lots of corners to hide in make this the perfect getaway.
Close by is one of Lombok's most beautiful beaches, Tanjung Aan, with perfect white sand
and milky turquoise water. Borrow some of the resort's bicycles, spend a couple of hours
on the idyllic beach, and then cycle back to enjoy some of the French chef's delicious
offerings by the sea. The resort is fully equipped with a fitness centre, conference
facilities, a kid's club, tour options and two fully serviced restaurants. Novotel is the
first of the planned resorts to open this area of Lombok to international visitors and now
is an excellent time to visit this luxurious, French-run mini resort. Tel. 62-370-53333
TWO EXHIBITIONS AT GANESHA
Over the months of December and January, Ganesha Gallery at
the Four Seasons Resort, Jimbaran Bay is holding two exciting shows. Russian painter
Gorbachev is to exhibit his works for the second time in Bali when Bali Ikon II opens on
22 December. It will run through to January 7. And opening on January 16 is an exhibition
of the three most important schools of painting in Bali: the Sanur School, the Kamasan
School and the Batuan School.
